• Position Summary
  • Scrub Technician provides patient care under the direct supervision of the O.R. Staff Nurse through scrubbing surgical cases. Assist Nurse with circulating duties to include: helping to obtain the appropriate supplies, instruments, and equipment for  surgical procedure.
• Education
  • Graduate of an ORT course - Required
  • Graduate of a Surgical Technician Program - Preferred
• Experience
  • 1 Year ORT course - Required
  • 1-2 Years Endoscopy Experience - Preferred

• Core Job Functions
  • Light sources, instruments and accessory equipment are consistently checked for proper functioning. Performs as an assistant to attending physician under the direction of a physician or registered nurse. Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures by cleaning counters, light sources, carts, emptying suction canisters and sets up appropriate equipment for next procedure.
  • Correct procedure card for supplies and instruments is identified and used. Sufficient quantities of supplies and instruments are pulled for each procedure. Case carts are completed accurately and promptly.
  • Assists in room set up. Helps move/transport patients. Assists with patient prepping.
  • Uses resources wisely. Eliminates waste. Maintains supply par levels.
  • New equipment /instruments and processes are introduced to staff in formal and informal sessions. Orientation checklist is completed for each co-worker in collaboration with manager. Periodic in-services are held to update and maintain staff skills.
  • Utilizes and maintains equipment, sterilization disinfection and processing standards. Performs routine maintenance of endoscopes while trouble shooting potential problems. Understands the concept of dirty and clean as it applies to cleaning of scopes and contamination.
