Summary

Duties:

The WOCN serves as a clinical resource and consultant to the medical staff, nursing staff, other hospital and affiliate personnel and patients in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for patients with ostomies, wounds, fistulae, incontinence, and actual or potential skin breakdown. Utilizes the nursing process to care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients based on current standards of practice. Functions within the permissible scope of nursing practice as defined by the Georgia Board of Nursing and St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System policies and procedures.

 

Requirements:

 

Bachelor is Nursing is required. Master is Nursing is preferred. Graduate of accredited program for Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing required. 3-5 years of Acute Care Nursing is required. 1 year of WOCN experience is preferred. Must have the ability to work effectively with fellow employees, MDs, and patients, as well as general public. Developing, motivation, assessing, and negotiating are required in positions which causes change or to obtain agreements to enhance organizational effectiveness. Professional Certification is required. Professional License with State of Practice is required. Must possess WOCN certification. Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Georgia.
