Summary

  • Position Summary
    • Performs various diagnostic procedures used to assess a patient's Cardiovascular status. This includes but is not limited to Echocardiography (transthoracic, transesophageal, and cardiac stress testing. This position specializes in echocardiography of the Valve patient and functions as the echocardiography technician during the intra op period for transcatheter valve replacement. On-call for intra op TEE may be required.

    • Associates in Science - Required
    • Bachelors in Science - Preferred
  • Experience
    • 1 - 2 Years Cardiac Sonography - Required
    • Duration of internship determined by the program.
  • License & Certification
    • Professional Certification - Required
    • ARDMS or CCI registration completed within on year of hire. BLS certification required.
  • Core Job Functions
    • Demonstrates knowledge and skill to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patient being served. Demonstrates principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient populations served. Coordinates patient care needs with team members and other appropriate departments.
    • Performs transthoracic echocardiograms, assists physician with stress testing and transesophogeal echocardiograms in accordance with IAC and lab standards.
    • Troubleshoots daily department workflow processes and issues.
    • Maintains and stocks equipment. Ensures equipment is properly maintained and serviced through biomed when necessary.
    • Routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment is performed in accordance with manufacturer recommendation and department policy. Work orders involving equipment are entered promptly into the system. Staff education regarding care and operation of equipment is conducted annually and documented as needed.
    • National certification/registry is maintained. Competency in the use of all department equipment and performance of all department procedures is demonstrated.
    • Meets or exceeds department TAT goals for testing. Enters charges as instructed for all tests performed. Maintains log of individual work completed.
