The Team Leader, Surgical Oncology Operations (TLSOO) serves as a team leader for the front office operations and facilitates the comprehensive new patient intake processes for surgical oncology patients. This requires collaboration with providers (surgical oncologists & advanced practitioners) to determine urgency of cases, priorities, as well as communications back to referring physicians for additional diagnostic studies prior to patient initial visit. Comprehensive and complete new patient records are prepared in conjunction with the Medical Records/Operations Support Specialist. The TLSOO is responsible for the initial and ongoing training of front office personnel and provides feedback to the office manager for the 90-day and annual evaluation process. The TLSOO will back up front office operations when staff are out sick or on vacation. The TLSOO will provide the supervisory leadership when the office manager is unavailable.

3-5 Years Medical Front Office Procedures - Required

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel - Preferred

Detailed knowledge of New Patient Medical Data Collection, Medical Office Registration, Insurance Verification, and collection/posting of co-payments. Effectual knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and simple math like percentages, ratios, etc.

Core Job Functions
- Responsible for initial and ongoing training of front office personnel about requirements of surgical oncology practice - beginning with greeting, registration, accurate intake of patient information, utilizing computer programs, insurance verification, and procedures associated with obtaining patient signatures as well as assuring all appropriate intake information is gathered.
- Responsible for facilitating comprehensive surgical oncology new patient intake process requiring collaboration with providers for scheduling timelines & priorities, working with medical records for records solicitation, preparation of complete history from multiple referral sources, follow up with referring physicians for additional diagnostics prior to patient visit when directed by surgical oncologist, and communications with patients to set expectations for initial visits.
- As a designated Team Leader for Front Office: Provide back up support for front office. Must be well versed in all front office operations from patient greeting, registration, medical records, gathering pertinent patient financial information, demographics, and ability to make referrals and follow up on diagnostic results.
- Provides front office management coverage when office manager if out or on vacation. Additionally, contributes feedback on front office personnel for annual and 90-day evaluations.
