Summary

  • Position Summary
    • The Team Leader for Diagnostic Radiology performs as well as supervises the activities of the radiology department technical personnel. The Team Leader is responsible for ensuring that all work is done in accordance with departmental protocol.The Team Leader coordinates patient activity and oversees QA of patient exams and maintenance of staff schedules. The Team Leader performs counseling and verbal warnings of personnel with input from the manager. Maintains open communication and is availableto component organizations and to practioner sites for consultation. Maintains open communication with ED and other Imaging and hospital departments.The Team Leader is responsible for the supervision of personnel in accordance with ARRT and JC standards. Participates in Dose Reduction initiatives and assures that the radiology department is in compliance with Dose Protocols. The Team Leader oversees the preceptor training with new hires. Team Leader assures that all required policies and protocols are understood and practiced.
  • Education
    • Associate of Science - Required
    • Bachelor's of Science - Preferred
    • Graduate of an ACR accredited Radiologic Technology Program
  • Experience
    • 3-5 Years Diagnostic Radiology technologist in a hospital setting - Required
    • Ability to lead and instruct others in the field of radiology. 
    • Leader in technology assessment and interpretation of new rules and regulations as well as assisting the Radiologists with protocol development. 
    • Experience in a busy radiology department within a hospital setting to be able to understand patient flow.
  • License & Certification
    • Professional License with State of Practice - Required
    • ARRT, R - Required
  • Core Job Functions
    • Knowledgeable of JC, OSHA, and ACR guidelines concerning the care of the patient. Demonstrates knowledge of proper aseptic technique, Universal Precautions, Time/Out, Read back/Verify and ALARA. Demonstrates knowledge of patients rights and use of required patient identification.
    • Routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment is performed in accordance with manufacturer recommendation and department policy. Work orders involving equipment are entered promptly into the system. Staff education regarding care and operation of equipment is conducted annually and as needed.
    • Maintains national certification/registry. Is competent in the use of all departmental equipment and is able to perform all procedures effectively.
    • Adequate personnel are scheduled to perform anticipated workload. Tests are performed in accordance with departmental policy and guidelines. Adjustements to staffing and equipment allocation are made as needed to meet the patient needs.
    • Interprets requests and performs exams in accordance with approved protocols. Communicates with radiologists and physicians about appropriateness of exams when in question. Maintains aseptic/sterile environment during invasive procedures and otherwise.
    • Knowledgeable of Joint Commission, OSHA and ACR guidelines concerning care of the patient. Demonstrates knowledge of patients rights and required patient identification. Performs oversight of Registration process, staff scheduling and staff compliance with ALARA.
    • Prepares and maintains the department schedules. Assures that Active Staffer and payroll system match at the end of each month. Communicates schedule changes as appropriate.
