Summary

  • Position Summary
    • The Registered Nurse maintains standards that relate to patient care and technical services performed and for the pre, intra and post diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac invasive patients by serving in roles of monitoring, circulating and/or scrubbing procedures in the invasive lab(CCL/EP/SP). The focus of these standards is to assure optimal examinations, interventions, and post care while maintaining the highest level of patient safety and comfort possible.
  • Education
    • Associate Degree in Nursing - Required
  • Experience
    • 1-2 Years Critical Care Nursing - Required
    • 1 Year Cath Lab or EP Lab or Special Procedures - Preferred
  • License & Certification
    • Registered Nursing License with State of Practice - Required
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Required
  • Core Job Functions
    • Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patient being served. Coordinates patient care needs with team members and other appropriate departments. Coordinates/oversees patient placement within the system and monitors house availability and assesses patient needs for house placement.
    • Assesses and documents the physiological health of the patient. Participates in patient/family education and teaching. Ensures that all patients are prepped according to procedure guidelines.
    • Maintains aseptic/sterile technique during invasive procedures per policy. Anticipates needs and provides procedural supplies and/or equipment to the physician. Proficient in arterial and venous access management.
    • Proficient knowledge in the management of cardiac and emergency medication. Accountable for standards of care as related to analgesia and/or moderate sedation. Compliant with the use of Pyxis for medication access per hospital policy.
    • Accurately enters procedural documentation and patient charges per department guidelines. Major arrhythmias and hemodynamic events are identified and communicated to ensure proper action for patient safety. Maintains radiopharmaceutical logs and computer entries for period of time required by the DNR.
    • Knowledgeable of Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, ACR, and AORN regulatory guidelines concerning the care of the imaging patients. Participates in quality improvement processes surrounding American College of Radiology Standards to achieve highest level of performance. Assures team is included in patient safety activities such as Time Out, Read Back/Verify, and Site Marking.
    • Ensures open communication between nurses and other team members. Promotes patient satisfaction in communication with patient and caregivers. Informs physician of patient assessment changes.
