Summary

  • Position Summary
    • This position transcribes pathology patient reports, types lab policies and procedures and prepares special projects as needed. Processes specimens for referral testing, follows up on results, maintains files for location of blocks and slides, answers client telephone inquiries, processes requests for client supplies and processes law cases. Data entry and patient specimens are processed using computerized systems. Data is collected and compiled for quality reports. This position also provides administrative assistance to lab management to include coordinating special events, updating calendars, organization and assisting with required reports.
  • Education
    • High School Diploma - Preferred
  • Experience
    • 1-2 Years Customer Service and Data Entry - Preferred
    • 1-2 years experience with Medical Transcription and Medical Terminology - Preferred
    • Able to type 65-70 wpm.

  • Core Job Functions
    • Organizes daily workload to achieve acceptable performance outcomes, recognizing weak areas and implementing appropriate resolution.     • Transcribes dictated pathology reports with speed and accuracy in Meditech verifying correct spelling, grammar and punctuation. Handle phone calls intelligently and courteously.     
    • Processes requests for referral of reports, blocks, slides and tissues. Appropriately monitors and documents return of materials as appropriate and follows up on outstanding issues.         
    • Assist in facilitating payment invoices, scanning documents, and reporting documents. Analyze, trend, and utilize advanced computer skills to review and report data. Assists with Director's monthly calendar and schedules meetings appropriately. Prepares and processes memos, reports, correspondence, mailings, etc. as directed. Completes policies, procedures and special projects within requested time frames.
    • Assists in planning and coordinating special projects and/or events as requested.
