Summary

  • Position Summary
    • Under the general direction of the Director of Technology, provides tier 3 (expert level) support of Information Technology infrastructure and related systems. Serves as a senior resource and technical lead in Information Services (IS) projects. Provides support for day to day issues and requests escalated to the Network Administration Team. Assists the Technology Director in the design of new systems, development of new standards, and the identification/integration of new technology solutions. Represents IS in meetings regarding technical projects, issues, and initiatives. Analyzes, installs, tests, maintains, secures, operates, troubleshoots, repairs, replaces, and decommissions enterprise hardware and software. Maintains open communications and is available to component organizations and practitioner sites for consultation. Specialization of this position exists in server or networking technologies, each requiring the appropriate experience and performing specific job duties.

    • Bachelors of Computer Science - Preferred
  • Experience
    • 5-7 Years Serving as a technical resource supporting enterprise information technology infrastructure - Required
    • Extensive knowledge of network concepts and computer operating systems, including Windows 7 and 10, Windows server 2208, 2012 and VMware virtualization- Required
    • Knowledge of Cisco LAN, WAN, WLAN and VOIP, as well as SAN and backup/recovery technologies - Required

    • Professional Certification - Required
    • One or more industry certification(s ): Microsoft MCITP/MCSA/MCSE, VMware VCP/VCAP, Cisco CCNA/CCNP/CCIE - Required
  • Core Job Functions
    • Technical lead in the design and architecture of new technologies/solutions. Identifies and implements enterprise infrastructure systems that enables the health system to fulfill its mission. Leads by example to set positive tone for team and demonstrate expected service delivery. Exemplifies excellent customer skills with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.  Leads technology projects and serves as a senior technical resource on other projects.   Completes projects tasks on-time and attends and participates in required meetings. Provides project status reports to the IS Management Team and IS Project Manager.  Attends meetings on behalf of the team and the Director or Technology.  Updates the team and Director with meeting notes, assigned tasks, project dates, etc.   Represents team and department in a positive, customer oriented fashion.              
    • Senior/Expert level technical resource who demonstrates mastery in several technologies. Assists in the development of procedures, instructions, and guidelines to perform functions related to installing and managing enterprise information systems.   Installs, configures, and maintains organizations technology infrastructure. Participates in routine downtime activities and other after hours and weekend work as needed.           
    • Ensures security patches are installed in with minimal impact to users and ensures new antivirus definitions are deployed in a timely manner. Continuously measures and monitors infrastructure resources that affect security, performance, and availability of Information Technology systems and utilizes these tools to proactively address concerns before users are affected. Performs system backups and tests restores.  Forecasts when additional infrastructure purchases are needed and participates in the procurement process.  Ensures license compliance through careful planning and deployment of new technologies as to not install/deploy/use any software that has not been purchased or licensed appropriately.       
    • Participates in the development and management of policies and procedures related to infrastructure and computer use. Maintains library of manuals to support software and hardware, ensures infrastructure and related systems documentation is current and accurate at all times, and ensures accurate inventories of IS assets are maintained.  Utilizes call logging system to capture details of every support request.  Continuously updates call logging tickets with sufficient detail to allow the customer to always be aware of the current status of their issue.  Creates and maintains documentation to support technology infrastructure and related systems.  Documents all changes to production systems and services as part of the change management process.    
    • Supports the mission of St. Joseph's/Candler Health System. Works regularly with information, which is restricted to specific persons.  Discretion and integrity are recognized requirements of the job.   Responsible for high degree of accuracy and control of details.  Mistakes might cause considerable downtime, confusion, or delays.  Ability to engage in multiple competing priorities during high stress situations.  Participates in professional development activities and periodically attends continuing education courses.  Ability to listen objectively, understand issues, and gather information in a supportive problem solving manner. Ability to demonstrate effective presentation, oral and written communication skills.  Ability to think critically and grasp new ideas quickly.  Has contact by phone, correspondence, or personal meetings with persons in other departments or outside the hospital.  Tact is required in these contacts and employee assumes the responsibility for harmonious relationships.   Requires ability to read and comprehend extremely complex technical information both on the computer monitor and on printed material formats.  Required to work a variety of hours to meet the needs of the organization. Virtually self-supervising with a direct accountability for results.  Periodic travel to remote sites in personal vehicle may be required.
