Summary

  • Position Summary
    • The department secretary provides clerical and administrative support for the Nurse Manager and Clinician/Clinical Nurse Specialist.  In addition, the department secretary performs general clerical and administrative duties for the specific nursing unit or service line
  • Education
    • High School Diploma General Studies - Preferred
  • Experience
    • 2-3 Years Clerical or experience in a related field - Required
  • License & Certification
    • None Required
  • Core Job Functions
    • Processes biweekly time records for each co-worker in accordance with hospital policy and performs daily maintenance. Maintains confidentiality of co-worker time records.  Notifies nurse manager of trends related to clocking in and out,  overtime, attendance and punctuality.      
    • Coordinates departmental data collection and sends reports to designated personnel. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
    • Supplies are ordered and inventory is maintained within budget guidelines. Answers phone in timely manner with accurate information provided to caller. Completes Payroll per protocol.
    • Maintains appointments and calendar, responds to requests to perform administrative tasks, answers phones and processes purchase requests.
    • Prepare memos, procedures, reports and other correspondence as needed. Answer telephones, relay messages, assist callers or transfer callers as needed. Record minutes and transcribes documentation accurately.
