Summary

  • Position Summary
    • The PRN Float Pool Operations Assistant position is utilized to provide administrative front desk duties within the offices of the Oncology Service line as needed per the staffing coverage needs of the individuals offices.  Some travel required as needed for office assignments in off-site oncology service line locations within multiple counties in Georgia and in South Carolina. Front office duties include the processing referrals, registration, patient scheduling, preparation of patient medical records, obtaining outside records, films, etc., as well as other pertinent clinical and billing information. Other duties such as check out, outgoing referrals and scheduling tests and exams as needed. The Front office duties include general clerical duties and other tasks as assigned by the practice administrator. 
  • Education
    • Associate of Healthcare - Preferred
  • Experience
    • 1 Year of Medical Office/Healthcare - Preferred
  • License & Certification
    • Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant or similar certification required if Operations Assistant performs back office duties.
  • Core Job Functions
    • Verification of patient demographics, insurance and other vital statistical information required to identify and submit insurance claims for services rendered. Collect information required by government and the health system for analysis as necessary. Scan required documentation to support necessary insurance and healthcare claim processing.
    • Compiles patient information and works closely with patients and/or authorized family to appropriately register, schedule and collect appropriate co-pay amounts.
    • Monitors physician orders for patient referrals to diagnostic departments, specialists, and initiates referrals; facilitates with CBO the pre-certification process, contacts patients when necessary; provides feedback to providers as needed if delays occur, and maintains outstanding results list to assure patient compliance with physician orders.
    • Maintains a collaborative relationship with co- workers and patients. Completes daily task and all duties as assigned. Respects patient privacy rights and complies with patient satisfaction guidelines
    • Follows established processes for achievement of tasks. Keep team leader/management team informed of tasks not completed or challenges in assignments.
